In May of 2012 MS MR mysteriously released the eye-catching video for their debut single “Hurricane,” which was named “Best New Track” by Pitchfork and has since skyrocketed to over 1 million views. Noteworthy media outlets across the world were instantly captivated by the then unknown act’s compelling blend of nostalgic, atmospheric pop. MS MR is the moniker of Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow. The duo’s debut album Secondhand Rapture is due out May 14th on Columbia Records. The album is comprised of 12 tracks and was produced by Hershenow, with additional production and mix by Tom Elmhirst. Secondhand Rapture also features the duos previously released tracks such as “Bones,” which was recently featured in HBO’s Game Of Thrones season trailer and the band’s UK single “Fantasy.” Having previously toured with Jessie Ware, Marina and the Diamonds and Grouplove, MS MR kicked off 2013 with two sold-out performances in their hometown at NYC’s Mercury Lounge, a sold-out performance at Los Angeles’ Echo and a successful run of shows at SXSW. The duo recently announced that they’ll complete a set of headlining dates around the release of Secondhand Rapture in May. This run will include a sold-out night in their hometown at Bowery Ballroom in addition to dates in Philly, Chicago and Columbus. MS MR will also make their debut on summer festival bills including Sweetlife Festival, Boston Calling, Governor’s Ball and Lollapalooza.
