The final three remaining contestants on this season of The X Factor phoned into On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday morning to talk about their performances and tonight’s highly-anticipated finale.
Carlito Olivero, Jeff Gutt, and duo Alex & Sierra all revealed their excitement and shared their experiences so far.
After wowing viewers with a performance alongside Prince Royce on last night’s episode, Carlito admits: “Coming into the competition, I felt like I was the underdog … it’s been an emotional roller coaster because this is my only dream.”
And now that he’s made it to the finale, the singer exclaims, ”I’m hoping to take it all the way.”
And he just may, considering he has a lot of support behind him, including artists like Enrique Iglesias who tweeted the contestant his encouragement. Carlito admits about the support, “It’s overwhelming.”
One way Carlito can cope with the overwhelming responses is with his mentor Paulina Rubio, but not in the way you’d think!
“She’s still crazy,” Carlito laughs. “She’s like, ‘Here’s a bottle of tequila. Let’s take a shot!’ And I’m like, ‘Paulina, I’m about to go on stage.’ … I’m such a lightweight, it would make me fall asleep!”
Alex & Sierra:
Boyfriend-girlfriend duo Alex & Sierra have come out on top after keeping a low profile early on in the season and they’re not stopping yet! However, the two, who are under team Simon Cowell, admit they still get nervous when it comes to performing.
“I’m still nervous every time,” Sierra shares. “I forget there are cameras, which help my nerves in general, but then I make really weird faces that people send me GIFs of!”
And, of course, everyone is wondering when they’ll become engaged, but Alex assures us they’re still only “boyfriend-girlfriend.”
“You know, come on now,” he laughs when pressured about when he’ll pop the question.
Lucky for him, Sierra backs him up: “We’re both on the same page with that,” she says. “If we’re getting into the music industry, we don’t want the pressure of an engagement right now. We’re just taking life as it comes.”
After auditioning and making it up until the live shows on last season of The X Factor, Jeff has truly made it out on top this season.
The single dad, who is backed by Kelly Rowland, admitted his return was always a part of his plan.
“I came back to win it … I always thought I could win it,” he shares. And the rocker just might have it in the bag as he wowed the audience and judges last night after his performance of Aerosmith‘s “Dream On,” which earned him a standing ovation.
To see who will be crowned the winner, catch The X Factor season finale Thursday on Fox at 8/7c.
